Hello MTK families
My name is Brad Hewitt, and I am very excited to be this year’s U14 coach.
Last year was our family’s first year with MTK and coach Scott Ryan, bench staff, volunteers and parents made it one to remember. The group was great and the boys had a fantastic year. My hope is to carry on where they left off last year. This was a big factor in my decision to apply for the job this year.
My coaching philosophy is pretty simple.
- hard work beats talent.
- Preparation is the key to success.
If players come to the rink mentally and physically prepared for practices/ games, everything else becomes very easy. This will be a big part of the team message this year.
I was disappointed to not be able to secure a spot in the Silver Stick tourney for the upcoming season, after the run the U13 group had last year, but I was able to register for the following tournaments.
- Belleville Mid Season Tilt Oct 31-Nov 2
- Coco Lemay Rockland Dec 5-7
- Capital Winter Classic Kanata Jan 2-4
- Oshawa Cup Jan 9-11
I hope everyone has a great summer and I can’t wait to see the players at the rink in August.
