Thank you to all those who express interest in the MTK U18 Team. My name is Josh Richmond I’m excited for another year, for those of you who don’t know me already this is my third season coaching with MTK and second as a head coach, I’m very excited to have the opportunity to learn and grow with the players as Head Coach of the Mississippi Thunder Kings U18 team this upcoming 2024-25 season.
As these boys are quickly turning from boys into young men this season will be focused on developing their skills on the ice but as well as guiding them through a confusing and continuously changing time in their life off the ice by creating an environment based on hard work, accountability, and respect. As players are choosing to tryout; I expect them to be committed to their decisions and show up ready to work everyday. Practices will be fast paced with a mix of skills, gameplay, and systems. We will also be utilizing the MTK association allocated funds for goalie specific development and player development sessions throughout the season.
I will be looking for coachable players with positive attitudes and a strong work ethics. Players will beoffered the opportunity to have fun practices every so often as rewards for hard work, accountability, andcommitment; Work Hard, Play Hard. As a coach, I will be looking to build a team where hard work comes first.Teamwork, leadership, and communication skills from players will be a focus to help build team culture. I am very competitive and expect all players to buy into a team first mentality.
