Mississippi Thunderkings Tryout FAQs:


We are committed to following the Hockey Canada Pathways for tryout evaluations.

  • What if my player will miss a tryout session?
    • Absentee players will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
    • They may need to attend additional tryout times/exhibition games.
    • If your player will be absent, please notify the Competitive Reps with the following information:
      • Level:
      • Player Name:
      • Date of Tryout:
      • Reason for Absence:
  • What if my player is injured/ill during tryouts?
    • Injured/ill players will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
    • Injury/illness requires a doctor’s letter.
    • If your player is injured/ill, please notify the Competitive Reps with the following information:
      • Level:
      • Player Name:
      • Date of Tryout:
      • Reason for Absence:
      • Attach doctor's letter.
  • Can our player play up a level?
    • MTK operates a minor/major system throughout the various age divisions as endorsed by Hockey Canada operating guidelines. As such, MTK operates under the premise that all players will play within their respective age group. (i.e.: a minor will play minor, a major will play major).

  • Can my player be released?
    • All players MUST tryout for the levels MTK offers for the season. Players released from MTK tryouts may contact their local Home Association President with regards to tryouts for other clubs offering the same levels.

  • Do you take imports?
    • The MTK program does accept imports as required at the discretion of the executive.

  • What equipment does the MTK Hockey Club provide?
    • Players receive a home/away jersey (requires jersey deposit, to be returned)

  • How many tryout sessions are guaranteed for the tryout fee?
    • Releases begin following the 3rd evaluation session.
